“From the AGR standpoint, we are finding that the newer designed vehicles have limited access, (**Diminished Site Lines), making it impossible to use traditional glass removal tools, which if used in such cases would cause a great deal of damage to the vehicle. These particular types of vehicle designs are becoming the norm in the industry and will soon involve most vehicles in the near future.

** “Diminished Site Lines” pertains to the fact that all vehicle manufacturers are asking glass manufacturers to reduce vehicle sight lines as much as possible in regards to glass fit in the vehicles body opening. This means eliminating the gap between the edge of the glass and the body opening, as well as having the edge of the glass visible eliminating the use of reveal moldings. Soon vehicles will have a diminished gap about the width of a credit card between the glass and the body on most vehicles. Only the Glass Bot™ can be used for safe glass removal on vehicles of this nature."

There are a lot of glass tools out there that help us do our job and they do just that, Help out! But I feel the Glass Bot does the work for us. This tool will give you a professional edge you need in today's market.
The guys in the shop were asking me why I was taking it on a mobile job to cut out, and try to save a DW1217GBY. And I did just that, No Problem! We have had a case were we had to remove a windshield for warranty and the supplier was happy to receive their windshield back with no breaks in it. The Glass Bot cuts the glass out and does not cause any damage to the glass. You will not use this tool on every job, but jobs with exposed pinch welds are no worry any more! Thanks Glass-Bot.

From the forums:

I've been working for Belron in Australia for the last 10 years.
The ezi-wire in now compulsory on all front removes and all cowls are to be removed.
Most jobs are completed 45-55 minutes.
Moulds do not have to be removed in most cases if trying to save the molding. Usually have a 90% success rate at saving the mould for re-use.

Removing the mould does make it quicker to set up the EZE-Wire™, but not by much usually.
About once every 20 screens i get the wire snap on a locating lug or protruding bit of metal, meaning you have to re-string the wire around the screen. While it can annoy the **** out of you, in reality it only takes 1 - 2 minutes to reset.

I've found that the more I've used it the better and quicker it is. I think its to do with getting a feel for the machine and being familiar with each model of car your working on (location of lugs etc) and things that can cause breakage of the wire.

These type of machines (EZE-Wire™/glass bot/rollout) are a god-send for exposed edge glasses and for panel shop removes when trying to save glass and paintwork.

Don't get me wrong, i personally don't think there is a need to use it every job. There are a lot of screens that can be removed with tools already being used by us all and I'd almost guarantee they are quicker than the wire system and when done by skilled fitters there is as little collateral damage done.

BUT if i left Belron to start on my own, or even work for someone else i would buy my own wire system from day one. There is a definite need now for a tool like this and i know from experience that it DOES take a lot of strain off the body if u use it when needed.

I hope all is well with you and yours. We have been giving your Glass Bot a work out recently. Over the past couple of months we have cut out approximately 170 windshields with the Bot and we have right at 40 more to go before finishing this project. The Bot has worked flawlessly...

Hi Rick, I had the first real need for the Bot on Friday with a Saturn View. The urethane along the top is too far down to reach with my longest cold knife blade and from the inside the headliner is so tight against the glass that I was seeing some fraying of the edges from the use of the air tool from the inside. I am pleased to say that I hooked up the Bot for just the top and it went easily with zero incidence to the headliner.
