“Take off your reading glasses, put on your driving glasses and look down the road.” This was the message to the assembled industry leaders and attendees in Memphis. These comments from the moderator were pertaining to the trend in auto glass design for more glass, no moldings and the decreasing clearance between the glass and the body panel. This change has created a need for reviewing the tools and techniques required for successful removal of these parts without causing VISIBLE paint damage, which would require repair prior to completion of the replacement. The Glass Bot™ was referenced during the presentation as one machine that overcomes this new design criteria, removing the glass without damage to paint, moldings or the glass itself. Pinchweld primer can no longer save the day in this situation. Adding aftermarket moldings to cover the damage is costly in both material and labor. Just the increased time to use current tools and techniques using masking tapes and protector devices to prevent damage is increasing your operating cost. Consumer knowledge of removal techniques is becoming more visible and their choice of how their vehicles are treated during the replacement process determines who gets their work. The insurance industry is also aware of these changes and becoming involved in the referral process to those shops that offer wire removal techniques to prevent any paint damage. This design feature is increasing to encompass most new vehicles, as is the recommendation or specification from the OEM to use wire for the removal process. The reaction was swift on the show floor. The traffic was non-stop at the Glass Bot™ booth with record orders taken from customers from all over the world. The word is out. Competitive products entered the market at this show as well. Manual wire winding devices are springing up everywhere. A ratchet wrench and pulley wheel on a suction cup is the basic set up and about 150 revolutions of the handle or hundreds of short strokes are required to complete a cutout while sitting inside the vehicle in an awkward position. Step out side this box and utilize the Glass Bot’s six-foot remote control with an all rubber grip and enjoy the freedom of monitoring the cutting process from outside the vehicle with only the pressure of your thumb on the toggle switch commanding the Glass Bot™ to do the cutting FOR you! The Glass Bot™ is the ONLY Powered Wire Winding machine in the world, the only one manufactured in the USA and 85% of our components are manufactured in the USA. Keep America Strong, buy American. Patents pending in the USA and Internationally. Lifetime warranty. The
