Using Wire Winding Devices

With the introduction of wire winding devices (Glass Bot™, EZE CUT, Roll Out 2000), the process of cutting with wire has changed. Keeping the angle of the wire cutting back on itself is the basic key to success with this new technique.

It doesn’t matter what you use to pull the wire, the easiest method is the path of least resistance.

No longer do you want to use a sawing action with wire. It is pulled in just one direction, inwards, away from the paint.

Understanding the Feedback

Now that you are using a tool that you don’t actually have your hands on, it requires a different sense than muscle strain to know how your tool is operating. When cutting with wire, it is the tone and tension of the wire that you hear and feel that relates the cutting process to you.

If the tone of the wire gets very high, you know you are approaching the breaking strength (246,564 psi).

Review your wire angle if the wire tension is high.

Ease of Operation

Simply put, the Glass Bot™ is a powerful winch that allows you to pull the wire slowly (21 feet per minute) but with more force than you could humanly accomplish working in this same area.

The wire is very thin so it can be used where other tools can't and it pulls inwards, away from body panels and painted surfaces.

So, if all you have is the space of a credit cart to get your work done in, think WIRE.
